Facebook "Entrepreneur" Sentenced to Over 8 Years for Selling Meth
A 39-year-old man from Crystal Lake, Illinois, has been sentenced to more than 8 years in prison for distributing methamphetamine on Facebook.
The Case
James Ettleson was found guilty of ordering methamphetamine through the dark web and reselling it on Facebook. He pleaded guilty to distributing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
The Sentence
On Monday, U.S. District Judge Iain D. Johnston handed Ettleson a 100-month prison sentence. This sentence was a result of Ettleson's involvement in a sting operation in April 2023, where he arranged to sell a package containing 113.2 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover law enforcement officer.
