Dark Web Narcotics Vendor: "Mamaknowsbrown" Pleads Guilty
The Case
Carolyn Tolin, aka "Mamaknowsbrown," a 46-year-old woman from Centereach, New York, has pleaded guilty to running a large-scale narcotics operation on the dark web. Her vendor site, MamaKnowsBrown, offered a range of narcotics to customers nationwide.
The Operation
Tolin's operation utilized standard practices common in the dark web marketplaces, including various shipping methods such as the USPS, UPS, and notably, same-day delivery via Uber. This convenient service allowed customers to receive their orders quickly, often within hours of placing an order. To facilitate this rapid delivery, Tolin would use Uber drivers to transport packages directly to customers, often using encrypted communication to coordinate the logistics.
Each package included an overdose-warning card, which Tolin personally created. The card advised customers to keep Narcan nearby, not to use the substances alone, and warned that her batches were extremely potent and intended only for "experienced" users.
The Bust
On March 14, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Tolin's residence, recovering large quantities of narcotics, including fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine, as well as computer equipment, packaging materials, heat sealers, scales, envelopes, and packages. Tolin was arrested and has been in custody since.
